Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition Guiding Principles for Health and Nutrition Research
Health and nutrition research pursued by the General Mills Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition (BIHN) will support the mission of General Mills by advancing the science
of health and nutrition, strengthening health and nutrition science knowledge and technology, and promoting research that supports positive health and nutrition behaviors. Health and nutrition research conducted and supported by the BIHN will adhere to appropriate
guidelines for the conduct of research, the research code of ethics and the
conflict of interest guidance. BIHN scientists will ensure that appropriate
types of research studies and designs are utilized. Unless such studies are exploratory in nature – and do not warrant publication, it is the general policy of the BIHN to support recipients of research funds in publishing and presenting their research findings.
BIHN funded research presentations and publications will follow the authorship guidelines set forth by the
International Committee of Medical Journal Editors, and all such material will publicly acknowledge the sponsorship
of the General Mills Bell Institute of Health and Nutrition.
